3. Results are estimates

The calculator shows an estimate of gross pay, which is pay before taxes and deductions. It does not calculate income tax, social security or other payroll taxes, benefits, garnishments or net pay.

Your actual pay can differ for many reasons, including:

  • how your employer rounds clock times or hours;
  • a regular rate for overtime that includes bonuses or shift pay;
  • pay periods, workweek start days and pay dates that differ from the ones used here;
  • paid or unpaid break policies;
  • union, contract or company overtime rules;
  • errors in the times or rates you enter.

4. Overtime and wage laws vary

Wage and hour rules depend on your country, state, city, job type and whether you are an exempt or non-exempt employee. The settings and examples on this site, such as overtime after 40 hours per week or daily overtime after 8 hours, reflect common rules and are not a complete or current statement of the law where you live.
